Madden Bolt supplies anchor bolts for transportation infrastructure, bridges, highway sign structures, and light and signal poles. We fabricate anchor bolts to ASTM F1554, cut the base and connection plates, and hot-dip galvanize in our own shop so they stand up to road spray and de-icing salt. AISC certified, family-owned since 1988, shipping nationwide with the best lead times in the industry.
Anchor bolts for transportation infrastructure tie the structures along the highway and the waterway down to their foundations, bridge bearings to piers, sign structures and high-mast poles to drilled shafts, traffic signals to footings. Set them and they sit in rain, road spray, and de-icing salt for decades. We fabricate the anchor bolts and cut plate the job needs, then hot-dip galvanize them here before they go out.
Roadway assets all need the same thing: anchoring that’s accurate and won’t rust out. Common scopes we fabricate:
For transmission poles, substations, and the broader utility category, see our related infrastructure page.
Pole base plates, sign-structure connection plates, bridge detail plates, they all start as a flat sheet that gets cut to shape. We run high-precision plate cutting here and tie it straight into custom fabrication and galvanizing. The cut plates, the anchor bolts that pass through them, and the finish all come off one floor on one schedule. Where the detail calls for embedded connections, we add steel embeds to the same package.
| Grade | Typical Transportation Use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| ASTM F1554 Grade 55 | Sign structures, light and high-mast poles | Weldable with the S1 chemistry supplement |
| ASTM F1554 Grade 105 | High-load poles and heavy structures | High-strength, quenched & tempered |
| ASTM F1554 Grade 36 | General anchoring and bridge details | Readily weldable mild steel |
Diameters run 3/4 inch to 3 inches, threaded UNC or 8-UN, and we’ll work to A572 Grade 50 when the spec asks for it. The full anchor bolt and rod range is on our anchor bolts page.
Roadway structures and their anchors live outdoors year-round, so on transportation work galvanizing isn’t an option, it’s standard. We hot-dip galvanize anchor bolts, rods, and plates per ASTM A123 (fabricated steel), A153 (bolts, nuts, and washers), and F2329, on the same property we fabricated. Our kettle has run next to the fab shop since 2007, so the coating comes out consistent and nothing waits on an outside galvanizer. We’re an AISC certified fabricator with a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff, and every order traces back to its mill test reports (MTRs) on request. Bridges, highway sign structures, and light and signal poles get anchored with anchor bolts set into concrete piers, footings, and pole foundations. Most run ASTM F1554 Grade 55 or 105, usually with a base plate the bolt pattern lines up to. We fabricate those rods, bolts, and base plates to spec and galvanize them for the roadway.
We split them by structure type. Transportation is the roadway side, bridges, highway sign structures, overhead sign bridges, light and signal poles, mostly DOT-type work. Infrastructure picks up transmission poles, substations, and the wider utility and bridge category. Both lean on the same anchor bolts and galvanizing, so go with whichever page fits your structure, or just send a drawing and we’ll quote it.
Yes. Base plates, gusset plates, and connection plates for sign structures, light poles, and bridge details all start as cut steel. We run high-precision plate cutting here and pair it with fabrication and galvanizing, so the cut plates, anchor bolts, and finish come off one floor on one schedule.
Roadway structures stand in the weather for decades, taking rain, road spray, and de-icing salt the whole time. Hot-dip galvanizing per ASTM A123, A153, and F2329 is what keeps the anchor bolts, rods, and plates from rusting. We galvanize on the same property we fabricated, so the coating comes out consistent and no outside galvanizer is sitting between you and your delivery.
Anchor bolts to ASTM F1554 Grades 36, 55, and 105, in diameters from 3/4 inch to 3 inches, threaded UNC or 8-UN. Sign structures and high-mast light poles usually want Grade 55 or 105. We match the grade to your structural drawings and also work to A572 Grade 50 and structural steel like angle, beam, channel, and pipe when the spec calls for it.
Yes. Complete assemblies, anchor bolts, heavy hex nuts, jam nuts, plate washers, and steel setting templates, so each pole or pier location shows up kitted. A good template holds the bolt pattern and projection right through the pour, and on a pole base plate that’s the difference between bolting up clean and field-fixing a miss.
Yes. Bridges, sign structures, and light poles go up in every state, and we ship anchor bolts, cut plate, and fabricated steel for transportation infrastructure nationwide out of our Houston shop, standard, rush, or expedited.
Send us your pole or sign-structure drawings, bridge bolt schedule, or plate details. We turn around standard, rush, and expedited anchor bolt, plate, and fabrication orders for transportation infrastructure nationwide.
