Anchor Bolts for LNG Export Terminals

Madden Bolt makes the anchor bolts for LNG export terminals, the bolts and steel embeds that hold combustion turbine generators (CTGs), steam turbine generators (STGs), compressors, and process modules down to their foundations. We fabricate to ASTM F1554 standards, A193 B7, and more, hot-dip galvanize in-house so the coating survives salt air, and back every order with MTRs. AISC certified, and the parts ship fast.

Anchor Bolts for LNG: What Export Terminals Require

Anchor bolts for LNG export terminals carry some of the hardest loads in heavy industry. Spinning turbines and compressors throw dynamic load straight down into the concrete, and those foundations have to hold for decades while salt air works on every exposed surface. We fabricate the bolts and steel embeds for those foundations to your engineer’s grade, diameter, length, and embedment (exactly as drawn) then hot-dip galvanize them in-house before they leave the shop.

CTG & STG Foundation Anchor Bolts

The CTGs and STGs run the power and refrigeration side of an export terminal, and their baseplates don’t tolerate a sloppy bolt pattern. We supply the whole connection for those foundations:

  • High-strength anchor bolts, ASTM F1554 Grade 105 and A193 B7 for CTG and STG baseplates
  • Sole plates and leveling plates, machined-flat bearing surfaces for turbine alignment
  • Embedded plates and embed assemblies, for compressor, turbine, and module foundations
  • Jam nuts, heavy hex nuts, and washers, kitted to the bolt schedule
  • Setting templates, to position large anchor bolt patterns accurately during the pour

Need the bearing and leveling hardware made too? Our custom steel fabrication shop cuts sole plates, leveling plates, and weldments to match the bolt package, same property, same QC.

Grades & Specifications for LNG Work

LNG foundation drawings lean on high-strength material with paper to back it. Here are the grades we run for this work:

Common anchor bolt grades for LNG export terminal foundations
Spec / GradeTypical LNG ApplicationNotes
ASTM F1554 Grade 105CTG / STG and high-load equipment foundationsHigh-strength, quenched & tempered
ASTM F1554 Grade 55Structural steel and module anchoringWeldable with the S1 chemistry supplement
ASTM A193 B7Equipment and flange-type connectionsAlloy steel, high-temperature service
ASTM F1554 Grade 36General structural anchoringReadily weldable mild steel

We’ll also run A572 Grade 50, A354 Grade BC, A193 B8 and B8M, A320 B8 and B8M, L7 and L43, 1011 and 1018, and 304/316 stainless when the spec calls for it. The full range is on our anchor bolts page.

In-House Galvanizing for Coastal & Marine Corrosion

These terminals get built right on the water, and salt air plus marine humidity will eat bare steel. So corrosion protection isn’t optional, and here it isn’t a truck ride to some outside galvanizer either. We hot-dip galvanize the bolts, rods, and embeds in-house per ASTM A123 (fabricated steel), A153 (bolts, nuts, and washers), and F2329, on the same property we made the parts.

Our kettle has run next to the fab floor since 2007. Coating thickness stays even, one QC team owns the part from raw steel to galvanized, and nobody’s waiting on a third party’s calendar, which matters on a job where the schedule is the whole game. More on our in-house hot-dip galvanizing.

QA, Traceability & AISC Certification

LNG procurement wants the paperwork, and we keep it. Madden Bolt is an AISC certified fabricator with a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff. Every order traces back to the heat, with mill test reports (MTRs) in hand. One quality team signs off on each lot, from the day the steel comes in to the day it leaves the kettle.

A lot of this overlaps our power generation and petrochemical work, check those pages if your scope reaches into turbine islands or chemical process units. Or see all industries we serve.

LNG FAQs

They tie combustion turbine generators (CTGs), steam turbine generators (STGs), compressors, and process modules down to big concrete foundations. That takes high-strength anchor bolts (usually ASTM F1554 Grade 105 and A193 B7) held to tight tolerances, traceable back to the heat, and coated for a coastal site. We make all of them to your foundation drawings.

It’s the whole set that holds a turbine-generator baseplate to its foundation: the anchor bolts, sole plates, embeds, jam nuts, washers, and templates. We build the package as a unit (bolts and embeds fabricated and galvanized on the same property) so it all shows up together and fits.

These terminals sit right on the coast, and salt air plus marine humidity speed up corrosion. Hot-dip galvanizing per ASTM A123, A153, and F2329 bonds a zinc coat to every bolt, rod, and embed. We galvanize in-house on the same property we fabricate, so the coating comes out even and nobody’s waiting on an outside galvanizer’s schedule.

Yes. We’re an AISC certified fabricator with a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff. Every order traces back to the heat with mill test reports (MTRs).

Yes. Compressor, turbine, and module foundations lean on embedded plates and embed assemblies as much as they do on bolts. We make the steel embeds, embedded plates, threaded studs, and shear connectors right alongside the anchor bolts, so one source covers the whole foundation connection.

Fabrication, threading, and galvanizing all happen in our Houston shop, so there’s no hand-off eating days off the clock. We keep up with the rush and expedited schedules that come with terminal construction. Send your bolt schedule or foundation drawings and we’ll quote you a lead time.

Nationwide. The Houston shop sits on the Gulf Coast near a lot of the terminal work, but we ship anchor bolts and embeds to LNG and energy projects all over the United States.
