Our Story

Madden Bolt is a family-owned anchor bolt manufacturer with roots going back to 1942, when the family started bending heavy bolts as the Eye Bender Company on Freeman Street in Houston under the name M. R. Madden. The business took the Madden Bolt name in 1988, and four generations later the same family still runs the shop — now a single-source steel fabricator and galvanizer shipping nationwide, built on getting the part right and getting it out fast.

It Started with a Bolt Bender

Our story starts in 1942, though back then we weren’t called Madden Bolt at all. We opened as the Eye Bender Company on Freeman Street in Houston, bending heavy bolts under the name M. R. Madden. The job was easy to describe and hard to do well: take raw steel and shape it into the fasteners that hold a structure to its foundation, accurately and on time. That’s still the work, and we’re still a family-owned anchor bolt manufacturer doing it.

Four generations of Maddens later, the name stuck, and so did the habit of doing more in-house than a single shop is supposed to.

From One Product to Six Trades

A bolt shop that listens to its customers doesn’t stay a bolt shop for long. Over the years we kept adding what the projects asked for — anchor bolts, steel embeds, custom carbon-steel fabrication, plate cutting, threaded rebar and anchor cages. Now six trades run in-house, so a part can be cut, drilled, welded, threaded, and finished without ever leaving the building.

The biggest one was corrosion protection. In 2007 we lit our own hot-dip galvanizing kettle on the same property as the fab shop. That one move made us a true single-source fabricator and knocked out the biggest delay on most steel orders — waiting on an outside galvanizer.

The 2021 Rebar Facility

When demand for threaded rebar and anchor cages kept climbing, we put up dedicated space for it. The 2021 Rebar Facility added throughput and cut lead times for customers nationwide, with room to assemble, weld, and tag large rebar cages and tie-down assemblies and get them out to the job site fast. Same playbook we’ve always run: add the capability, keep it in-house, protect the schedule.

The Same Standard, Now Nationwide

What hasn’t changed is the standard. We’re still family-owned, still in Houston, and still judged by the same two questions we were in 1942: did the part show up right, and did it show up on time. What’s bigger is the reach. These days we ship anchor bolts, embeds, rebar cages, and fabricated steel all over the country, LNG, power generation, petrochemical, infrastructure, data center, and construction work, coast to coast.

Our Story FAQs

Madden Bolt Corporation was founded in 1988, but our roots go back to 1942, when the family started bending heavy bolts in Houston as the Eye Bender Company on Freeman Street under the name M. R. Madden. The same family has owned it through four generations since.

Yes. The same family has been in the bolt trade for four generations, since 1942, and still owns and runs Madden Bolt today. Same family, same town, and you can see it in standards that hold steady and customers we’ve kept for decades.

We started as a one-product bolt shop. Now we run six trades in-house — anchor bolts, steel embeds, threaded rebar and cages, custom fabrication, plate cutting, and hot-dip galvanizing. The galvanizing kettle has run on the same property as the fab shop since 2007, and in 2021 we opened a separate Rebar Facility to add capacity and shorten lead times.
